Long-time supporter Carol Richards was inspired to volunteer at the BC SPCA by Sadie, her seven-year old Burnese mountain dog. “I spoil her rotten,” admits Carol, “but I know that not all dogs are as lucky as she is.”
Carol is just one of the more than 4,000 amazing volunteers, without whom, the BC SPCA simply could not operate. Whether it is walking dogs at her local shelter or helping at the Scotiabank and BC SPCA Paws for a Cause, Carol is proud to do anything she can to help animals in need and promote awareness, education and responsible animal care.
She has chosen to further support the BC SPCA by generously selecting the society as beneficiary of her life insurance policy. “The BC SPCA gives so much to animals and I wanted to give back. This is the way I can help.” Recently, she also purchased a kennel sponsorship in memory of her late father, to honour his lifetime of caring and compassion. “My father was a huge lover of animals and was always taking in animals that needed homes.”
April 15-21 is Volunteer Appreciation Week and we celebrate Carol and the thousands of others who donate funds, as well as their time, to the cause. During April, branches are encouraged to name homeless animals in honour of Carol’s father, Gordon, or Gordie, as he liked to be called.
Thank you Carol!
