Gregg Baker is a long-time supporter of the BC SPCA, as a sponsor, donor and advocate. He is an inspiration for turning a passion for animal welfare into action!
Gregg supported the work of the BC SPCA for many years before being invited to a fundraising dinner in 2007 that was organized by a friend. That dinner raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the BC SPCA and, Gregg adds, “showed me how one person can bring together friends to make a huge difference. It is about one voice amplifying and rippling out to others.”
Gregg became keen to learn more about the many programs and services the BC SPCA has in our province. He was particularly impressed by the incredibly challenging work of our cruelty investigations team. He reflected on his childhood growing up on a Shuswap farm and said “I have always believed that we should be humane to and respectful of all animals.”
Gregg is currently a partner with Engel & Völkers, an international real estate firm, and despite his busy schedule, remains actively involved in the BC SPCA family. He remains passionate about helping those who can’t speak for themselves, and believes in giving to the BC SPCA to help effect real change in animal welfare. As a sponsor of the Offleashed Gala in Vancouver, Gregg ensures he brings many animal lovers to the event. “The gala gets people thinking about what they can do to get involved. We see the work we can help achieve and it brings hope.”
Gregg and his partner Brendan were guardians to dog Lucie (also known as Goose) for 13 years before recently losing her to Cushing’s disease. They were heartbroken by the loss of their family member. Gregg noted, “Every time I see a dog, I smile. I know what they can do for a person’s spirit, and I want to see all animals treated the way they should be.”
Thank you for being there for the animals who need us, Gregg!
