Linda Verhoeven

Generosity in Action - April 2011

As a BC SPCA volunteer at the Nanaimo branch for more than seven years, Linda Verhoeven has seen firsthand the difference that care and compassion can make.  Because she believes so passionately that all creatures deserve kindness and respect, Linda has also been a PAW Plan monthly donor for 10 years, helping the BC SPCA to educate the public and care for thousands of animals across the province.

In 2009, Linda became the happy guardian of Boots, a sassy adult tabby cat.  Before being rescued by the BC SPCA, Boots didn’t have an easy life; living on the streets through harsh, cold winters, scavenging for food and shelter.  Linda and her husband gave Boots a loving “forever home,” and as a donor and a volunteer, Linda has helped thousands more cats, like Boots, receive that second chance.

As April 10-16 is Volunteer Appreciation Week, we are recognizing Linda, and all those supporters who not only make charitable gifts, but also donate their time. For the month of April, BC SPCA branches are encouraged to name homeless animals “Linda” in honour of her generous support.
