Our mission: To protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.

The Maggie Carpenter Trust

Generosity in Action - September 2016

What a life changing difference thoughtful planning can make! When Maggie Carpenter sat down to create her will (legal Trust) she had no idea that she would someday make one of the largest legacy gifts ever received in the history of the BC SPCA!

Maggie was a very kind and generous person who helped many people along the way. Thanks to Maggie and her family, thousands of animals have been and will be saved from abandonment, abuse, and extreme neglect.  The first few months of 2016 brought in two of the largest animal seizures in the history of the society; 66 sick and neglected dogs and puppies from a large puppy mill in Langley and in Surrey, 57 dogs, cats and horses found in severe and distressful circumstances. Along with the incredible outpouring of generosity from our amazing supporters, Ms. Carpenter’s kind and thoughtful seven figure gift covered a large portion of the extensive cruelty investigations and medical and behavioral rehabilitation that followed. She brought the light back to the eyes of many of these disheartened animals.

This gift was arranged in memory of Maggie, her husband Robert and her daughter, Lauren Anderson. We can’t thank the Carpenter family enough for their incredible vision and immense generosity that will save the lives of animals across B.C. for years to come!
