The Pet Shop Boys

Generosity in Action - March 2015

For years Christopher Steele and David Rogowski, owners of  The Pet Shop Boys doggie boutique, spa and daycare, have found creative ways to bring together their network of friends, staff and clients in support of animals in need.

The Pet Shop Boys’ love of all things canine is clear, but their interest in the BC SPCA goes well beyond their love for rescue dogs. As Christopher says, “We love the educational programs that the BC SPCA offers to teachers and children. Their call to action ensuring humane treatment of all animals is great.”

Doing Business with a Big Heart

The Pet Shop boys participate yearly in the BC SPCA’s Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause and National Cupcake Day events and hold nail clipping by donation and other in-store fundraising events throughout the year. Their example is proof that good business and a good cause are a perfect match. “We personally talk to all of our clients about what we are doing and why we do it. We have found that our clients LOVE this aspect of The Pet Shop Boys, as it enables them to give back in ways they weren’t previously aware that they could. We have quite a few people who come in to get their dogs’ nails cut with us, specifically because the proceeds go to charity.”

Fun & Teamwork

The Pet Shop Boys know how to make fundraising fun! One of Christopher and David’s favourite memories with their team was their first year supporting National Cupcake Day wherein they spent nine hours baking and bonding with catered Sushi and Champagne supplied by Christopher and Dave. The Boys say, “For any business this is a great opportunity for team building and making a difference by giving back to the community that supports their business.”

The BC SPCA is continuously grateful for The Pet Shop Boy’s support and the example they set as donors, fundraisers and participants in our signature events.
