Thomas Budd, a well known community leader and local philanthropist started the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation following his retirement from investment banking. After retiring from the fast-paced world of mergers and acquisitions he has since turned his attention to helping others. Mr. Budd joined Kelowna’s community several years ago and now shares his success among many local charitable organizations including the BC SPCA in Kelowna.
Tom fondly remembers his Golden Retriever, Magnum. “He was like a best friend”, Tom recalls. “Pets are special; they are loyal and create a special bond in each of our lives”. Mr. Budd and his boys recently enjoyed a tour of the Kelowna BCSPA shelter. He felt it was important for his boys to see where their donations go, and to witness the work of the many volunteers who help make the shelter such a success. “It is a great place where the animals are so well cared for.”
“First and foremost, I really believe in Kelowna and I believe in giving. When there is a need, the onus is on all of us to give to the best of our ability.”
Mr. Budd encourages others to do their best and inspires success. He is a passionate sports enthusiast, tennis player and car racer but most of all enjoys spending quality time with his boys and values his family and friends. He is a man who chooses to make a difference in our community.
May is Be Kind to Animals month, and in honour of Mr. Budd’s wonderful support of our Kelowna branch, BC SPCA branches are encouraged to name homeless animals “Tom” or “Budd.”
