Feral cat day a success

Sunday February 20, 2011 marked the most successful Free Spay/Neuter & Medical Clinic Cat Day in BC SPCA history.

Hosted by the BC SPCA Vancouver Animal Hospital, the event included a team of 55 volunteers who came together to sterilize, vaccinate and tattoo 101 cats - a new record for this event.

The team comprised of local veterinarians, their staff, cat trappers, and community volunteers. They spent the day providing care for feral cats and those belonging to First Nation families. Without everyone’s help, these felines would have continued to breed, increasing the problem of cat overpopulation and the suffering that homeless cats experience during their short, brutal lives.

Our sincere thanks go out to all those who donated their time and skills to this important initiative. What a super day we had together!
