Animal Fostering |
We care for more than a thousand stray animals each year. Many of these strays find good homes when they are healthy, but there is limited kennel space to house animals with long-term injuries.
The goal of the Foster Program is to find temporary homes where animals can heal in a caring family environment. In addition to injured animals, foster homes are needed for kittens too young to be adopted.
The SPCA provides all medication and equipment -- foster families are asked to provide food and tender loving care. It may be necessary to bring the animals to the hospital at regular intervals for check-ups and treatment.
When the animals are healthy, these become available for adoption at one of our shelters.
