WHAT'S HAPPENING

The BC SPCA's humane education department works hard to develop resource materials for teachers who want to teach their students empathy and respect for animals. You can learn more about making the right decision about a classroom pet, order curriculum units to teach to your students, and read about recommended resources.

If you would like a school presentation on an animal issue, or if you would like to keep up to date on animal issues to teach to your students, please visit the links below for more information.

Classroom Animals

Providing students the opportunity to interact with an animal can be a valuable teaching tool, but only if done correctly. Learn more about classroom pets and making an informed decision.

Classroom Resources

It is important to teach children to have compassion and empathy for all living things. The BC SPCA's curriculum resources offer a wide-range of materials for you to use in your classroom.

Recommended Resources

Want to teach today's youth to grow up to be compassionate about animals? Review our recommended resources that will help you learn more about how you can teach your students to love and respect animals.
