WHAT'S HAPPENING

Welcome to the Salt Spring Island Branch of the BC SPCA.

Each year we help thousands of animals find new homes.

Our new website will help our supporters, adopters and future adopters to learn more about the animals that we are currently sheltering, offer volunteer opportunities, highlight fundraising events and so much more!

We appreciate all of your support!

Special Updates

Volunteers Urgently Needed!

Please visit our Volunteer page for our current opportuntities. With your help, we can provide the care and support these animals need until they find their forever homes.

Kitten Season is coming!
That may sound like an adorable scenario, but the truth is that every year shelters are flooded with unwanted animals. Did you know that ONE unspayed cat, and her offspring, could potentially produce over 450, 000 cats?! On Salt Spring Island, indiscriminate cat breeding continues to be a problem… but you can help! PLEASE have your cat spayed or neutered. Not only will you be helping to control the island's cat population, but you will also benefit from:

  • Far less likelihood of 'spraying'
  • Much less likelihood of cat fights which could result in increased veterinary costs.
  • Generally less aggressive behaviour.
  • Decreased likelihood of cats wandering away/escaping.
  • Eliminating the possibility of reproductive cancers, potentially leading to a longer, healthier, and happier life.

CATS AS YOUNG AS FIVE OR SIX MONTHS CAN HAVE KITTENS!!!

When you have your cat spayed or neutered, you are:

    • Helping control Salt Spring's cat population.
    • Providing the best care for your pet.
    • Teaching your children about responsible pet ownership.

If you have any questions about spaying/neutering your cat, please call the Salt Spring BC SPCA at 537-2123

    Too many kittens?

The Salt Spring BC SPCA always accepts kittens. Please do not abandon or give away for free. We make sure they get good homes and are properly cared for. Let us help. Call 537-2123 for help.
