Late-fall born Red Squirrels released after rough start to life

After more than 7 months in rehabilitation care, two baby Red Squirrels were finally healthy and strong enough to be released back to the wild after a rough start to life.


UPDATE - White American Pelican - And a Brown Pelican makes a pair!

Our special winter guest, a White Pelican who made the journey from Manitoba to Victoria after missing migration, now has a new friend - a Brown Pelican from Prince Rupert. Together, their specialized aquatic care and medical attention costs over $200 a day!

A big thanks to all our guests, volunteers and sponsors for a fantastic open house weekend! The event was a great success with almost 1,000 guests touring our facilities - with shuttles courtesy of LA Limos!


Adventurous Oak Bay otter on the mend - update

March 27, 2012

UPDATE - The badly injured otter rescued in Oak Bay and treated at Wild ARC, the BC SPCA’s wildlife rehabilitation centre in Metchosin, was successfully returned to her home on March 25.


City Critters at Wild ARC Open House

Wild ARC, the BC SPCA’s wildlife rehabilitation centre in Metchosin, invites you to their annual Open House on March 31 and April 1. This year there will be special appearance by author-journalist Nicholas Read, who will be there to launch his latest book, City Critters: Wildlife in the Urban Jungle.
